INGREDIENT 101: Optiphen Plus

In an effort to bring you the highest quality products, I've searched far and wide for a way to preserve many of these formulas in the most gentle way possible. After testing several different preservatives [and consulting with industry professionals], I settled on Optiphen Plus.

Optiphen Plus consists of:
- Phenoxyethanol (an aromatic ether alcohol)
- Sorbic Acid (a natural acid that offers protection from yeast, fungus and mold)
- Caprylyl Glycol (an emollient base, known to boost moisturization)

Optiphen Plus contains the reliable agent Sorbic Acid for anti-fungal and anti-mold activity. It is different from Optiphen ND (contains benzoic acid, which may be de-activated by non-ionic emulsifiers and surfactants) and also different from regular Optiphen (contains no acid and no protection from mold, fungus or yeast).

Optiphen Plus is:
✴ A highly effective broad spectrum antimicrobial (effective pH range up to 6.0)
✴ Great for protecting formulas against bacteria, yeast, and mold
✴ Globally approved
✴ Formaldehyde-free
✴ Halogen-free
Paraben-free
Non-isothiazolinone
✴ Imparts emollience
✴ Biodegradable
✴ Halal
✴ Vegan
